What do you worship?Worship mean to literally to acknowledge the worth of someone or something. It means that you recognise and say that someone or something is worthy of your praise. It means praising someone or something that is superior to yourself that the only thing you can do is to celebrate their worth.
In our culture we give worth to many meaningless things. Our recepits give us an accurate record of what we truly worship.
In the book of 2 Samuel, Chapter 6 we read a story of three people: Uzzah has God in a box and seeks to control or manage God, attemtping to keep God safe from the world, David chooses to go all out and extravagant in his worship, Michal chooses to sit back and criticise. Worship is central to what it means to follow Jesus. As Tom Wright explains:
“When you begin to glimpse the reality of God, the natural reaction is to worship him. Not to have that reaction is a fairly sure sign that you haven’t really understood who he I or what he’s done. And the best way to discover what worship is about is to join in and see for yourself.”
At Coventry Vineyard we encourage people to worship God in their everyday lives. We recognise that we become like the one we worship and in worshipping God we become more human. For more on this listen to the talk from this morning
