Things around here are about to change...

Our new website has now emerged out of the ether(net).

Things are still being added but you can view the unfinished wonder at Coventry Vineyard
Do let us know what you think about the new site.

Looks very nice, and the low graphics high accessibility option is very well done (which is very unusual and very important for church sites in my mind). Minor bug, though: it doesn't turn the graphics back on when you click on the 'Turn Images On' Link!

Apart from that bug, I have a couple of minor complaints:

1) the menus fail if you attempt to view the site with Internet Explorer's (v.6) default high security settings. I'm guessing something similar would happen with a none javascript enabled browser. A small but significant proportion of people use the high security settings (or are forced to by their works IT policy) and most of them probably don't know enough to guess that clicking the 'Low graphics' option would allow them to navigate around the site. Maybe just having the site default to the low graphics option on browsers without JS support for whatever reason? It would be ugly, but at least they would be able to reach the information - having things like the forums/chat/maps not working without JS is one thing, having your main navigation fail is a bit more of an issue.

2) It has fixed font sizes for the body text! Pet rant here, but this is just plan lazy! Fixing the font size is just about excusable for things like calendars, menus and other bits of layout that can be easily broken, but there is no reason for fixed sized body text. Lots of people for different reasons like to be able to resize the text they're reading (high resolution monitors, visual imparements, plain preference) and it shouldn't be required for them to look at the 'ugly' graphics free version to get such basic functionality.

...hmmm. You may have noticed that I feel strongly about some of these things! Hope it helps though, especially because it looks like a really solid basis for a site with a nice selection of features.
